The surface is coated in a masterfully layered glaze mix that evokes the mysterious interiors of a volcanic cave. To achieve this incredible depth, the main platter underwent a rare second glaze firing in the kiln. Deep subterranean warm browns, mossy mineral greens, and deep volcanic reds fluidly merge together under a glossy finish, allowing hints of the raw speckled stoneware to peek through the edges. Because of this intensive double-firing process, the final crystalline reactions on the platter are entirely unique and can never be replicated, making it a truly individual piece of fine art.
