Golden Stratum is a large-scale, statement masterwork exploring the intersection of heavy structural textures and luminous light. Created as a custom, central anchor piece for the artist’s own living space, the painting found its initial spark of inspiration in the abstract geometric designs of a decorative throw pillow.  However, to bring the concept into the artist’s authentic creative universe, the flat pattern was completely reimagined. By injecting a heavy, tactile sense of the earth, the canvas shifted into a deep, organic landscape of its own.

Built upon a sweeping 36″x 48″ canvas, the artwork utilizes Hydro-Stone and mixed media compounds to build up deep, craggy, stone-like ridges across the surface. This physical topography is balanced by a geometric dance of bold black squares, smoky grays, and soft, atmospheric blush pink tones. Suspended across these rich, weathered layers are brilliant fragments of composition gold leaf, catching the ambient light of the room and shifting dynamically depending in the viewers angle. It stands as a powerful visual testament to how everyday inspirations can be elevated into a profound, breathing exploration of nature’s textures.
